The fireworks pictures below were taken the Fourth of July - Independence Day 2003 in Overland Park, KS.  The Olympus c-5050z was used to take the photos.  Preferred camera settings were f5.6-f8, ISO64 with an exposure time from 4-6 seconds.  Exposure time would vary based on the timing of the fireworks and the number of bursts desired in a given frame.

 

Additional notes:  The wind was blowing from left to right.  The moon appears in many of the photos.

Lessons Learned:

 

Wide aperture settings can result in overexposures of the fireworks. Notice how big and bright the green lines are in the photo below.

Extended exposures can be washed out if the fireworks tend to burst in the same spot.  It's better to go with shorter exposures in this case.
